Going "Green"

Going "Green"

Building, remodeling, or simply replacing products with "Green" that provide efficiency in energy and resources just makes sense. Below are some helpful hints of products you may want to use in the future that are not only beneficial but economical as well:

Corn and Soybean biobased cleaning products;

LED light bulbs;

Low VOC paint;

Recycled paper home insulation;

Energy Star products;

Recycled glass, recycled glass with binder, recycled glass and concrete for countertops and even some floor applications;

Industrial aluminum waste with resins can be used for countertops;

Cork, Bamboo, FSC Certified TEAK, and recycled wood are great flooring choices.

I found the following site that contained helpful information.

Visit www.greenproducts.net for more information.

The above is a portion of an article I wrote on my website:  www.sandymyrtlebeach.com/News/Latest/Going-Green.html

Hey Sandy good green post, Thanks

Here is a post I put together about FREE Hot Water using solar realtors can pass on to their clients  ... Hope this helps with educating more people on going green.

This makes a lot of sense here in South FL where most homes have expensive Electric Hot water tanks, yikes!

Have a great weekend,

Bob

Hi Sandy -  makes sense to me too!  I love LED bulbs... wish they were cheaper though.

Sandy - great post and information. There is so much information out there and the aspect of going green doesn't always require more money. Thanks for pulling this information together!

Sandy, Thanks for your quick list, and the article link. Nice that you're encouraging folks to try green products, and even if some are more expensive initially than a traditional item, they may realize a cost offset in energy savings, etc.
